What does it mean to you if you have the condition called Diabetes? The answer to this is complicated. You could be predisposed to various conditions such as:

  • Heart Disease, Stroke
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Blindness
  • Kidney Disease
  • Nervous System Disease
  • Amputation

These conditions sound terrifying and truthfully they are. However, I believe the best way to overcome such fear is to learn about them. I have written down some information that everyone should know if they have Diabetes.
TYPE 1 DIABETES:
Type 1 Diabetes is when the body stops producing insulin altogether. The body's immune system attacks and destroys insulin producing cells made in the Pancreas. Diabetes Type 1 mostly occurs in children and young adults but can occur in maturity. Approximately ten to fifteen percent (10-15%) of all diagnosed Diabetes is actually Type 1 Diabetes.
TYPE 2 DIABETES:
When the body does not make enough insulin or the insulin is not properly absorbed in the cells, this is called Type 2 Diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes can be controlled if diagnosed early and adhering to these general rules.

  • A healthy Diet
  • Exercise (up to 30 minutes, 3 times a week)
  • Use the medications given by a professional.

Medications can be either in a oral form or injections. It is noted however, that most people that contract Type 2 Diabetes will eventually be using injections as they get older.
There are many risk factors that can cause Type 2 Diabetes. These include:

  • Family History
  • Obesity
  • Inactivity
  • Other health conditions, for example, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

A high percentage of people have Type 2 Diabetes, eighty-five to ninety percent (85-90%.)
Gestational Diabetes:
This is the third type of Diabetes. Gestational Diabetes is usually a temporary form of Diabetes. It is thought that hormones produced during pregnancy block the mother's insulin from being absorbed or formed from the pancreas.
Gestational Diabetes can be controlled with diet and insulin injections or via insulin pumps.
Even though Gestational Diabetes is a temporary form of Diabetes it can re-emerge as the woman matures. This Diabetes is called Diabetes Type 2. Factors that can re-emerge Type 2 Diabetes can include family history.
As noted there are three types of Diabetes. While they are incurable, they can be controlled through; diet, exercise and the use of the proper medications.
Exercise:
This should be Cardio Vascular in nature, for example walking, jogging, going to the gym. Professionals recommend you do exercise for thirty minutes (30min), three times (3) per week.
Diet:
There is a large amount of controversy, regarding this subject. Some say to eat whole foods such as Brown Rice and Wholemeal pastas, for example. Whilst it is true to watch your diet and not over indulge in such foods as cakes, chips, greasy takeaway meals, the general conception is that you may eat whatever food you wish, just don't over indulge.
Natural Products:
There are a large source of Natural Products that can help in the control of Diabetes. Being natural these products do not aggrevate your condition. There are many types of natural products from pill form to once-a-day drinks. They are made organically and are regarded highly by the American Industry Codes. Unfortunately, you cannot buy many of these natural products over the counter, many are bought and sold directly from the business.
In summary, yes Diabetes is now in epidemic proportions. Even though this disease has quite a few terrible side effects the good news is there are ways to control it. As stated exercise, diet and medications can definitely bring your Diabetes under control. Remember,

Diabetes is not a death sentence!

I wish to thank many excellent researchers in this field including the American Government that allowed me to research statistics and the NDSA (Australian Diabetes Association). It is my hope that people will accept my information and use it to promote health and vitality within their lives.
